Results from habitat modelling of a Blue Crab were presented alongside with the project NorScen – Nordiske klimaScenarioer (Nordic climate Scenarios) funded by The Nordic Council of Ministers (NCM) programme Marine Management and Climate at the Vision conference in Gothenburg at 13th of November arranged by NCM and hosted by SMHI.
“My presentation focused on some possible effects on habitats and ecosystems and provided examples of the impact of climate change on the ability of invasive species, in this case the Atlantic blue crab (Callinectes sapidus), to spread to marine protected areas. I emphasized the importance of acting early through cross-border collaboration and using methods that enable early detection,” says Sam Fredriksson here seen alongside with Lars Arneborg both at SMHI and project members of ClimateInvasives, and Geir Ottersen (Institute of Marine Research) and Marie Maar (University of Aarhus), everyone project members of NorScen.
