During the summer of 2024, we explored a novel remote sensing index, developed in connection with the Biodiverse+ project, for mapping benthic communities in Limfjorden and Kattegat.
The expedition used a sailing boat.
Compared to other commonly used remote sensing indices, this new index has demonstrated the ability to penetrate deeper into the water column and is sensitive to a wider range of photosynthetic pigments. This index will be used for habitat mapping in the study area, while further investigations will be conducted to explain the specific traits to which the index is responding.
